Malawi 2016 Team #2

2 people in July

Team #2

Hi! My name is Marshall.

I'm 24 years old, the husband of my lovely wife Jerome, the proud father of our 3 month old son Josiah and a member of Trinity Grace Church in Toronto.

I'm a mechanical engineer by profession and currently work in industrial refrigeration. I am really looking forward to spending some time in Malawi this summer to serve the communities there that are in need.

Having heard so much of all that God is doing through Love a Village in Malawi I am excited to join and contribute to this great cause. I'm sure that the experience will be encouraging and faith-growing!

Mark

Hi! My name is Mark, and I am greatly looking forward to serving Christ in Luhomero, Malawi!

As a recent engineering graduate and a practical person, I feel called to help people by meeting their physical needs. One of the greatest needs in our world today is clean drinking water. I would like to do what I can do meet this and other needs in Luhomero. I will be going there for about a week from July 14 to July 23 with my close friend Marshall to work alongside the Love a Village Team.

Please pray that God would use our time their to make the greatest impact.

Thank you for your prayers, Mark

8 people in August

Hi everyone! My name is Emma and I am super excited to share with you all that I will be traveling Malawi, Africa this August!

I was taught about Malawi by Julie and her charity Love A Village, and am so happy that I get to join her and her mission to serve God overseas. Travelling to Africa would have never crossed my mind if I didn’t know about this charity. It has shown me the suffering that goes on in other parts of the world, and has inspired me to do all that I can to help put the suffering to bed.

As I prepare to go to Malawi I am overjoyed that this trip has presented itself to me. I believe that by going on this trip I will be obeying God’s wishes for me, and in doing so, spreading His love to Malawians.

This is a big step for me, which is why I would love if I could have a team of supporters, encouraging me before I go, and praying for me while I’m there. Would you join my support team, by encouraging, praying, or financially supporting me for the costs of this trip? Help be apart of the changes we are making in Malawi, so that others can live clean, healthy, and happy lives.

For more information, feel free to check out my prayer letter!

One of my jobs as "Dad" is to share with you here on behalf of our family as we invite your prayers and support for us this summer. We’ll be travelling to Malawi on August 4 and all of us are looking forward to returning and reconnecting with friends in Africa. None of the four of us have been in Malawi since 2013 and so much has happened since then! We’re especially excited to see the progress that’s been made on Love a Village projects in Luhomero and to meet some of the families who have benefited. It will also be so meaningful to meet (and in some cases reconnect) with Malawian volunteers who are playing key roles to support and advance village projects. We’ve all been missing Taylor-Ann as well, and so we’re really looking forward to seeing her and hearing from her in person about all that’s been happening since she arrived there in May.

As Founder and Director, Julie is Love a Village’s point leader. We all can see that God has called Julie on this journey for His glory and that He is being faithful to provide and direct for each step as she leads the mission to, “cultivate hope one village at a time.” At the same time, the Love a Village story is a family one. As we’ve followed Julie’s lead and supported her behind the scenes in many ways along the way, all of us have been challenged and changed for the better. This August feels like an opportunity not only to work together alongside our Malawian friends on projects in Luhomero but also to pause and celebrate God’s goodness to us in this adventure. Thank you for your prayers and support! We’re all in this together!

May to August

(16 weeks)

Hi! My name is Taylor-Ann and I'm putting together a support team to help me go to Malawi this summer for 4 months.

This won't be my first trip to Malawi. I've been twice before doing similar work, however I've never been able to go for more than a month. I never thought it would work out to go for any longer than that and I honestly thought I would never have a chance to go back after my last visit there in September of 2014.

Thankfully, in 2015 my mom started Love a Village, making it easier for me to be able to go to Malawi and focus on a long term goal.

Focusing on long term goals is one of the big reasons I'm going. I have a passion to improve the lives of the people of Luhomero and would like to see progress made in those areas in the community. In addition, we'll be spending our days gathering information, talking to people about what goals and dreams they have, and figuring out ways to come alongside the people there and work together to reach our goals.

It also means an opportunity to share with our Malawian friends about Jesus. Malawi is a nation that does believe in God, but their understanding of Him is limited as many people do not have access to a Bible and do not have a personal relationship with Jesus. I hope that this trip will be used to show people what knowing God and having a relationship with him looks like.

I'm really looking forward to this trip. I know that God is planning on using Love a Village in incredible ways in the community of Luhomero and I'm excited to find out how He wants to use me.

Would you become part of my support team by giving toward the cost of my missions trip? We can make a life-changing difference for the 4,000 people of Luhomero Malawi who are living vulnerable to drought, without clean water or adequate sanitation, cut off from education, and without secure and adequate housing. Help me be a part of the team that will strengthen the foundation for Love a Village.

Moriah

Hey! My name is Moriah and I am ridiculously excited to say that I will be heading to Malawi, Africa this coming May!

I learned about Love a Village through one of my closest friends from Bible school last year, and now have the opportunity to serve alongside her in Malawi.

Serving in Africa has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, and now this dream can become a reality. This is where I feel God calling me at this point in my life. I am looking forward to seeing how God works through me and my team, to further grow the work of His kingdom.

I’d love to build a team of supporters and want to invite you to be a part of it! Would you consider joining me in this next chapter of my life by supporting me in prayer and/or finances?

I am hoping that through this experience, God will continue to grow and shape me into the Godly person that He has created me to be. For more information, take a look at my newsletter.

Bethany

Hi Friends, my name is Bethany I am so excited to be heading back to Malawi in May 2016!

I visited Malawi in 2014 and quickly fell in love with the country, the culture, and the people. Malawi is a place where I felt exactly where God wanted me to be. It was a place where I could simply love in the best ways I know how, by holding babies, laughing with children, dancing with the women, and by making people smile.

I am excited to go back with Love a Village this May and see the growth and changes that have already taken place in Luhomero and to see what God has in store for me this trip. I am excited to see how the Love a Village projects have developed since I left and how God has been working in the lives of the people there. I am excited to enter into these communities, to love, serve, and be a very small part of the amazing things that God is doing.

I want to invite you to be a part of this adventure! Please consider supporting our trip by pray or financially. Please cover me, our team, and the people of Malawi in prayer as we get ready to go and while we are there. And please consider supporting me, and Love a Village’s projects financially. For more information please take a look at my newsletter.
